A quick note to remind everyone there will be no session this Sunday 9 March 2025. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break over the Canberra Day long weekend, and best of luck to those participating in the Broulee Ocean Swim.
Friday night PBs will go ahead as usual on 7 March, and return on 14 March for the last opportunity to count laps and record swim times for the season. Our timekeepers, Julie and Alister, have extra stopwatches on hand if parents are able to assist so that swimmers can attempt more laps.
We will run our regular swim sessions next Sunday, 16 March, but coaching arrangements might vary. While our head coach, Shaun, is volunteering with revegetation work in Guthega that weekend, our Lane 1 Deep instructor, Kate, will be preparing for the launch of her humorous self-help book “Does My Universe Look Big in This?: An Overthinker’s Guide to Living Beyond the Ordinary” at Smith’s Alternative that evening from 4pm. All are welcome to come along and support the launch!
The last day of the Dickson Swim Club 2024-25 season and awards ceremony will be on Sunday 23 March. This coincides with another event of interest to the DSC community. Our timekeeper coordinator and assistant coach, Alister, is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, specialised in folklore milieu of the Balkans, Greece and Asia Minor. He performs as Merak Machine with various bands, troupes and artists. His next show is at 7pm that evening at Smith’s Alternative where he holds residence this year. All welcome!
Lastly, as the season draws to a close we encourage everyone to consider volunteering to support the Club next year. We are always looking for help in various roles or in an assistant capacity. Many hands make light work! If you think you might be interested, please speak to DSC president, Julija, or any of the DSC committee members.
